We’re B-a-a-c-k! With a NEW TITLE

Things have been quiet here around the House. The Boss caught whatever that bug was that’s been going around, and then Aunt Tillie got it, and then we got it, and then…well, our clientele came down with it. So everybody’s been laying inert with little X’s over their eyes. But now we’re all better and swinging from the chandeliers again.

We have a new book out: The Travelers Tales. It brings the six tales that have appeared at Amazon together and adds the final story, as yet unpublished anywhere else: “Sky High.” A very high-flying quickie, that one. 😀

In The Travelers’ Tales, seven airline passengers are stuck overnight in an airport when their plane is grounded by one of those fine East-Coast storms. As the strangers slowly get to know each other, they spot a couple exiting a bathroom, ever so slightly en deshabille and looking like they’ve been up to something. The travelers, being grown-ups, are mildly amused by this.

Then one of the group suggests they pass the time by telling stories about themselves. In specific, he suggests they describe “your most memorable quickie.” After some slightly embarrassed laughter, the mousy-looking librarian starts them off. And still waters do run deep!

Great story, at Amazon for a fraction of what it costs to buy all seven books.

Just now some of the individual stories are unavailable due to a technical glitch. So if you’d like to read any of them, grabbing them all in one swell foop is not only the most economical way to get the whole set, it’s the only way.

Doings and Flu-ings

The Boss has been, like, TOTALLY distracted for the past few weeks. The Christmas season was beyond  hectic. Then on Christmas day the Boss came down with the flu or something and was knocked out for two weeks. Then three tons of work came rolling into her editorial business like some kind of tidal wave. She’s still trying to swim out from under that.

Aunt Tilly caught the cold, too, which meant she hasn’t been able to keep an eye on us. Heee heee! And that’s a good thing. 😉

Seriously: we’re sorry for Aunt Tilly. And the Boss. But for those of us who don’t have a bug…it’s been fun.

Meanwhile, life has gone on. We have a couple of new books online, and more to come. Life in the Ivory Tower is live here at Amazon. A pleasingly ironic story, The Personal Trainer, can also be had from Amazon. Don’t miss it — it’s pretty funny.

And the next story in that Roberta Stuart series, The Artist, went on sale last Wednesday. We enjoyed reading about Bernard’s adventure in this Traveler’s Tale — you will, too.

Meanwhile, the Boss’s  new diet/cookbook, 30  pounds/4 months, isn’t even in print yet and it’s already sold FIVE pre-publication paperback copies! And hardly anyone knows about it…

It’s available in digital format at Amazon, but we think it makes more sense to have a cookbook in a form that won’t get damaged if you sprinkle flour on it.

Dark Kindle LoResThe printer is busy preparing the approved print copies, which we hope will be ready within the next week or ten days. You can order a copy direct from Plain & Simple Press, at a $2 discount off the $12.99 price, by sending a message from the Contact page.

WHO is Jeff? The Traveler’s Tales Tell All

Our next Traveler’s Tale will appear on Amazon in a day or two — just in time for Christmas! Life in the Ivory Tower reveals that the travelers’ ringleader, Jeff, is a minor celebrity. The others, not having recognized him, are startled to learn who he is.

And speaking of telling all, the travelers are even more startled by his naughty tale of academic delight. 😀

Watch for the next Traveler’s Tale here.

Lots Going On at Camptown Races!

Camptown Races and our sister company, Plain and Simple Press, have got a lot going on this week! We just published the second “traveler” story, “Science Teacher.” We love this tale: it has a funny (and kinky!) twist at the end, something you’d never guess. The heroine sure didn’t guess it at the outset. 🙂

Presentation7-3 LoResHee! When she finds him at the door to her science lab, after school, she asks him, “Is there something you need?”

Well, yeah! 😀

Meanwhile, at Plain and Simple Press, a new version of the 30 Pounds in 4 Months diet/cookbook is under way, and the second boxed set of Fire-Rider stories — Books VII through XII — will go live at Amazon next Tuesday.

And the Boss is planning to download Scrivener, an elaborate writing and formatting program, so as to create ePub versions of the Racy Books for Racy Readers that can be sold through AllRomance eBooks, and for that matter through Nook or Smashwords.

So that’s what we’re up to now! Go on over to Writers Plain & Simple for more details on the straight stuff. We’ll keep you up to date on the Racy Books here! 🙂

Yay! A brand-NEW series!

December starts with a brand-new series of Racy Books for Racy Readers: The Travelers’ Tales. It’s perfect for the traveling season: seven airline travelers are becalmed for the night in an airport when a big storm on the East Coast knocks out airline service over the whole region. Bored, restless, and disgusted with their predicament, they begin to tell each other stories to while away the time. The subject? “Your Most Memorable Quickie!”

😀

The first to tell her tale is the deceptively mousy-looking librarian, Aileen. By the time she finishes, her newfound friends look at her in an entirely light.

Presentation6 LoResThis is a very fun series of short, mellow, and entertaining reads, perfect if you’re stuck in an airport…or the dentist’s waiting room, or the carpool waiting line outside the kids school…perfect for the last few minutes before you turn out the lights for bed-time, too!

Enjoy! And please leave a review at Amazon. We love to learning how readers like our books!

wooHoo! Our first vector drawing cover!

It’s daring, very daring!

Not the content of the cover, but the style of the cover. Some people think that readers connect more readily to photographic images than to drawings and paintings. Hence if you work for a magazine or book publisher, you’re often told to prefer a photograph to a line drawing or painting, even if the latter is absolutely a better piece of art.

But for the latest Family at the Holidays story, the Boss flew in the face of conventional wisdom. Check out this exotic cover by Sofia Shimanovskaia:

Presentation2 AngieBillie LoRes

Is that or is that not awesome? We love the wild contrast of the sexy maroon/red and the bright blue-green, with the model’s eye color picked up in the font. So simple, but so…wild.

Bliss wants to draw a fake tatt like that up her between her eyebrows. But Aunt Tillie isn’t having any of it. (She’s so strict!)

We were all a little worried that the cover lines — the title and subtitle and author’s byline — wouldn’t stand out enough in the Amazon environment. But when you call up its page, it looks just fine.

We like this story: it’s an LGBT tale, only the second that Camptown Races has produced. And it’s very erotic. In a nice way.

Check it out!

And while you’re at it, don’t miss Daniela and James’s story, which just went live a day or two ago! Very sweet couple! 😉

Girls Gallivant While New Books Appear

Aunt Tilly here! Those naughty young ladies, Joy and Bliss, have been partying about town while major developments have been happening here at the (publishing) house. So I guess it’s up to me to tell you of our two brand-new stories about the big, sprawling Latino family whose grown kids have been heading home for Thanksgiving this week.

All things are possible...

All things are possible…

If you’ve ever had (ahem!) teenage pistols ← around the house, you know how awed, amazed, and horrified they get when they contemplate the very possibility that the decrepit parents (ancient at 38 years old) could, just maybe, have those kinds of feelings for each other. Well, as you realize, the possibilities for humor abound. To say nothing of the possibilities for exasperation. And extended frustration. Ana and Pablo revisit this issue on the long car ride home to Mom and Dad’s homestead. Their strategy for outwitting the kids is amusing, as is the gratifying result. Don’t miss it.

Presentation8 LoRes

Meanwhile, the generally harassed Marisol struggles to get home in a failing car. A resourceful young woman, she manages to make the best of a bad situation.

Presentation6 LoResInspiring. Truly inspiring! This is a fun story, and very sexy. And romantic.

Really, all of Roberta’s “Family” stories are pleasantly romantic. They’re perfect escape reading for the times when you’re stuck in the airport or cramped inside an airplane seat. So remember to pack these travel essentials inside your Kindle for your own Thanksgiving trip home!

Yours for a Happy Holiday,

She's so strict!

Those girls haven’t seen “strict” yet!

The Family Gets Together…

Big time! 😀

We love the second story in the “Family at the Holidays” series! It’s a fun little interlude…Sofia’s mom asks her to stop by the neighborhood bakery to pick up a cake for the Thanksgiving bash. Sofia finds a great deal more than fancy cake.

Could we say…uhm…cheesecake? LOL!

Check it out: it’s very sweet, in every way.

Presentation5-2 LoResWe hope you’ll enjoy this holiday story in the run-up to Thanksgiving. Download it, read it, love it! And please leave a review at Amazon!

Give-aways Comin’…Watch This Space!

Hey! The Boss says she’s going to run not one but TWO BIG GIVE-AWAYS in the near future! One will be here and one will be run from her personal finance site, Funny about Money. The prizes will be fancy things you’d love to have for yourself or to give to a loved one for Christmas. Real STUFF, like electronic gear or the like.

And she’s also going to do a third, smaller give-away at Funny about Money: a book full of wisdom about sales and marketing.

So be sure to keep an eye on this space. We’ll let you know when these things come up. If you want to be sure to be informed when the contests start, sign up for our newsletter through the link at the top of the page. ↑↑↑↑

Meanwhile, Camptown Races Press has launched its November series: The Family at the Holidays. It will right up to that wonderful, fun, hassle-filled annual rite, Thanksgiving Day!

Family at the Holidays is the story of a large Latino family whose grown children are summoned (as usual) to the family homestead for the de rigueur Thanksgiving reunion. (We all know about those! :-D) Some have to drive a long way. Others live nearby and so are expected to show up with food in hand. All the kids are interesting characters. All the grand-kids are…well…kids and teenagers. First story is Ruby and Frank in the Bedroom.

Ruby & Frank LoRes

It’s a fun story. All the Holidays stories are told with a mellow sense of humor. Most of them involve loving couples trying to come to terms with the stresses of family and jobs that tend to pull relationships apart. We think you’ll enjoy them as much as we have. Be sure to visit Amazon and grab yours right away!
